PROJECT: James Reese Museum Sugar Land 95 Exhibit
CLIENT: Fort Bend ISD
LOCATION: 12300 University Blvd. Sugar Land, Texas 77479
COMPLETION: March 2022
The James Reese Museum Exhibit for Sugar Land 95, commissioned by Fort Bend Independent School District (FBISD), serves as a critical historical and educational display honoring the Sugar Land 95. This project required precise execution of design, fabrication, and installation to meet the high standards of both preservation and interactive visitor experience.
Displays, reading rail and artifact cases were all included in the overall design. Graphics for primary display total 216 sq. ft. in apx 8 to 10 panels. The secondary display is approximately 11’ long and 9’ tall at the tallest point and is made up of large painted MDF wall panels and returns to building wall. Reading Rail is apx. 10’ long x 20” deep with return braces or legs and aluminum edge trim for recessed graphic. Case 2.1 is essentially identically to small case 1.1. above. The interior of the case features a custom 12” x 12” x 4 1/2” acrylic shelf unit for placement of artifacts. Map of Cemetery Graphic is apx. 36” in diameter and appears to be a normal graphic, but it features a push button momentary switch like the case lights that provide backlighting to give emphasis. Graphics for secondary display total 105 sq. ft. in apx 4 to 6 panels.
The exhibit features vinyl or other film media of birds,
sugar cane and a tiny butterfly installed on the outside or
inside of the two story windows adjacent to the space to serve as a feature of both the interior exhibit and also the cemetery tour if visible.
